In the summer of 2009, I had the rare opportunity to travel to Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan. In addition to document my travels in small books I also visited students and their families. In my blue satchel I typically carried a sketchbook, watercolors, a small container for water, my passport, a wide variety of pens and markers and a small package of tissues. Upon my return to Minnesota, I used drawings and photographs to create a series of paintings to be exhibited on the Shattuck-St. Mary's campus. I compiled my drawings in a book available on
