I began as co-advisor of Penumbra, the student-led art and literary magazine at Avenues New York in 2017. I pushed to bring more student artwork into the publication and worked with students to create compelling image and text pairings through effective layout designs. Annually, students create a theme-based call for entries, gather student submissions, and curate an issue of the publication to go to print. Throughout the year, students also come together as an club to workshop their writing, share their artwork, talk about art and literature, create zines, and plan on-campus artistic interventions. When I transferred to São Paulo, a colleague and I brought Penumbra to our new campus and published the issue DreamsSonhos in 2019.
