I worked as a teaching artist my first summer in New York City for an organization called Creative Art Works. I mentored a youth media team as they documented five mural projects that were in progress across the city. Since one of the mural projects took place in a juvenile detention center and no cameras or students were allowed in the facility, the only way we could capture the experience of the mural team was through the production of an audio piece. I was very proud of the way my students worked within these challenging constraints to tell a beautiful and important story.
